What Can Be Suggested For Lower Pp Glucose Found Through The Tests?

Doctor, I am a 43 yr old pre menopausal Indian woman. I regularly go to the gym .Of late, I had noticed my weight was not increasing, but in spite of workouts and more input of cardio, i could not lose any more weight. I am yo-yo-ing b/w 60-61 kg (ht = 5 ft). I got my thyroid hormone levels tested as well as my fasting and post prandial glucose. The results were normal for all parameters, except that the pp glucose is lower than the fasting glucose. My actual results as on 03/08/12 are

1. plasma glucose , fasting = 88mg/dl (N
2.Insulin (fasting) = 8.6 (N= 2-25 micro IU/ml)

3. Plasma glucose, 2 hrs after lunch = 82 mg/dl (N
4. Insulin , serum 2 hrs after lunch = 13.90 (N= 12-82 microIU/ml)

5. Free T3 =3.29 (N= 1.4 - 4.4 pg/ml)

6. Free T4 = 0.85 (N= 0.8- 1.8 ng/dl)

7. TSH = 2.77 (N=0.45- 4.5 micro I/ml)

The above tests were performed at Metropolis Diag , Mumbai.

Another previous report of 08/01/12 done at K D Ambani Hosp showed:

1. Glucose fasting = 78.4 mg/dl (N = 70-79)

2. Glucose PP = 71.5 mg/dl (N= 70-140)

The questions are :

1. Are these values normal & since the pp glucose is lower than fasting glucose,

2. Does it indicate Insulin Resistance ?

3. Do i need additional tests or medication ?

4. What are the implications ?

Thanks for your advise, Regards, Parizad

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear friend
This is not uncmmon to have PP blood glucose lower that fating.
the reason is high insulin sensitivity, exaggerated response
of insulin and glucagon like peptide 1, defects in
counterregulation, very lean and /or anxious individuals, after
massive weight reduction, women with lower body overweight
etc.
so, the answer of your question is

1. all values are normal. you need not to be worry.
2. it indicates high insulin sensitivity, not resistance.
3. no req. of additional test
