Dentist, Endodontics Dr. Manisha Rao's  Response
Hi, tooth caps or fixed partial dentures are restorations that replace the missing teeth. In your case it is suggested to replace the missing tooth. They resemble your natural teeth and are fabricated according to the shape, size and colour of your existing natural teeth. The dentist will take an impression of your teeth and make the caps for you. The caps are custom made for every patient. Please follow yoyr dentist's instructions for the same. Take care!

I have been to the dentist for a sore tooth that was recently capped. Everything looked fine. I then noticed a swollen lymph gland in my throat and went to my doctor who put me on antibiotics. It s been about 5 days and the tooth is still bothering me. What do I do now?

I had decayed tooth (Bottom Right Side 1st Molar) which was initially ground till the nerves and filled. I have not been advised any tablets after filling. Then after 15 days swelling was still there and pain again started. Then again I have been to some other doctor who after taking Xray told to take Root Canal Treatment to save the tooth. Root canal treatment (RCT) started and after a few minutes the doctor said the tooth is having vertical crack and stopped the RCT. He told to get the tooth extracted and get an single implant with cap or cap without implant. The tooth was extracted about 15 days back. Now I would like to know whether there would be any problem if I just leave the extracted tooth and does not have implants or cap? Why is it not possible to proceed with the RCT with vertical crack? and The doctor also advised to somewhat affordable treatment of Ceramic Cap for which he has to grind two nearby tooth and fix a cap with their support, Is it neccesssary? Please advice. Thank you.
