What Are The Treatment Options For Pars Planitis?

I want to know what the latest treatment options are for pars planitis. I had a steroid shot in my eye over ten years ago and the results only lasted a few weeks. I saw a doctor just recently who wants me to start with anti-inflammatory eye drops. I have read that drops really aren't effective. Are they? What about shots? I was hoping for a cryogenic remedy, but this doctor didn't feel that was an option with the swelling in my eye. Also, how can I find a specialist in my area?

Hello
It seems from the history that you are having pars planitis. This is an idiopathic inflammatory condition affecting the pars plans, a part of uveal tract.
The treatment is difficult because of the fact the eye drops will not reach the inflamed site.
The treatment options are use of oral steroids, injectable steroids in the form of intravitreal injections.
If the condition is not responding you need to consider antimetabolite drugs.
Along with medical treatment all cased require evaluation to find out the underlying systemic cause and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
