What Are The Sysmptoms Of Memphis?

My father was being tested at the VA Hospital in Memphis for exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam war. During an x-ray screening they noticed shadows/spots on is lungs and adrenal glands. He is scheduled for a biopsy of his adrenal gland. They have put aside the Agent Orange project for the time being. Why would they biopsy the adrenal and not the liver? They are going to do a Pet Scan so why not do it prior to the biopsy. Would could these shadows/spots be other than cancer?

Hi,

Why would you expect the colleagues to do a liver biopsy if they saw a shadow on the adrenal gland and the lungs? Liver biopsies are not state of the art anymore and only done if CT, MRI and contrast enhanced sonography deliver ambiguous results. However you’re right with this point: do the imaging (MRI, ceSono, CT, PET etc.) first and then decide if a biopsy is necessary. That should be the routine nowadays.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
