What are the symptoms of strep thoart and scarlet fever?

I have strep thorat and scarlet fever since 5/12/11. I woke up this morning and was about to brush my teeth when I noticed a small black thing on my jaw it looked like some type of bug. I spit it out of my mouth now I can see a small hole where it was can you tell me what this might have been?

Hi;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
If you have strep infection and fever then you are either under treatment or not that is the main question.If you are not under treatment it is necessary to get treated also the hole in your mouth what you say will require examination to see what it is .So the better option is to consult a doctor in person and he will examine you and prescribe medicines accordingly.
Thanks

I work at a retail store in the mall, and there was this awful smell for a few days that we couldn t figure out where it was coming from, finally after the plumbers were called, we found out that the sewage lines were leaking into our air vents! A few days later I was sick in bed with strep throat & then scarlet fever , could the condition at work have been what caused this ?

My granddaughter, who is six years old, has been to her doctor three times in less than three months with severe headaches, fever, rash, sore throat, swollen glands and now enlarge spleen. What do we need to do? Tested on first visit for strep throat - negative. Tested on second visit - diagnosed as strep and scarlet fever, given antibiotics. Tested today - maybe viral infection, no medicine. What is going on? Should we take her to urgent care since they now told my daughter she has an enlarged spleen? Thank you, Lucy

I m a 34 year old female. Average height and weight. I had strep throat about 3 months ago. Took antibiotics and it seemed to go away. For the past 3 weeks though a lymph node in the front left side of my neck will swell and get very painful on and off. Also the base of my tongue on that side hurts when I swallow. I can t even turn my head in the direction of the painful node when I have an attack. It will go away for a few days, but it always comes back.

My 5 year old son had strep pharyngitis 2 weeks ago and was treated with keflex x 10days. Midway through the keflex course he c/o lower bilateral abdominal pain although he would first point to the right lower quadrant. Yesterday he developed a fever, headache, sore throat, and abdominal pain. No N&V, no diarrhea, no one else is sick in the house. He was seen by his PCP who did a throat culture, UA and culture. His UA showed +4 ketones, trace blood, +1 protein, negative glucose, and specific gravity of 1.010. We were given a second course of Keflex and sent to the ED where they did another UA, CBC, and CMP. Glucose 116. UA still had +4 ketones but no other abnormalities. Today he is febrile 101 to 102 F, with abdominal pain which is lower bilateral but a little more on the right side. The ED said that he could have an appendicitis brewing and to keep an eye on him. The also said that his urine did not look dehydrated and his electrolytes looked normal so they are not sure why his ketones are so high. Any thoughts?

My 9yrold son was treated for strep throat/scarlet fever yesterday morning. He had been fevering, vomiting,sore throat, rash and headache since Saturday. He s taken 4 doses of amoxicillan now. His fever stayed down so far today, but his rash is everywhere now and itching. He has started complaining that his scrotum is sore to the touch and when he urinates (and the area is very red and inflamed with rash). So, his doctors and pharmacists are trying to conclude if it could be related to the strep or if he may be having a reaction to the meds and needs to change to something else. Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am a fairly healthy 32yr old female. I first developed strep throat at the end of June,a week before my femoral rotational osteotomy,and was put on a z-pak. 2 weeks after being home my throat started bothering me again and I felt very weak. My doc diagnosed me with strep,again. After that I was diagnosed 2 more times with strep and was given amoxicillin,ceftin,roceftin,and cipro. A week after the cipro I tested negative,via rapid strep,but still felt weak and my throat felt worse. He put me on Methylprednisone. I went to a different doc yesterday and she reported orange spots on the back of my throat and noticed the 2 red marks on the skin of my throat. She thinks its from acid reflux,which I told her I don t have. I expressed to her my concern about the possibilty of catching something due to my blood tranfusion I had after my surgery.She performed a full panel,including mono spot and HIV,and the result came back completely clean and flawless. My question is what else could cause these orange spots,painfull swallowing,headache, and fatigue. She has put me on a nystatin mouthwash,but there is no yeast. Thank you for your time..
