What Are The Symptoms Of Shingles?

I don t know if I have shingles but I have had chickenpox. About 5 days ago I felt in the left side of my back a pinching kind of light burning sensation. By the next day an area of my skin was raised and looked like a welt. By that evening the welt got bigger and started itching like crazy. The following day the welt was now a somewhat bigger patch with others forming kind of in a line and started getting small blisters and still very itchy. The skin looked kind of yellowish on the welt. The area affected is not a large area but is itching like crazy. My question does shingles only itch and sting?

Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com
I understand your concern.
Shingles is characterised by formation of grouped vesicles on erythematous base associated with burning sensation or pain or itch. In most of the cases, prodromal symptoms are also experienced like pain, tingling sensation, itch or tightness in the affected area.
The vesicles start to dry up within 4- 5 days followed by crust formation.
For shingles, oral antivirals like Acyclovir / Valacyclovir are advised to start within 48hours of onset of vesicles.
I hope I am able to solve your query.
Take care.
