What Are The Symptoms Of Pancreatitis?

Hello I am concerned that I may have Pancreatitis based on pain and symptoms. I have been to the docs and screened for kidney stones through a Sonogram. I have a gnawing back stabbing pain that is hard to tolerate and difficult to get up from a lying down position. My indigestion has gotten so bad that I had an endoscope with my first colonoscopy and they found erosion of my esophagus. I have sweats and fatigue and I m concerned that I am going to end up in the hospital but really just want to address it now by diet until I can get time off again for more testing such as a amylase etc. What do you suggest? General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned acute pancreatitis has following symptoms like -

a)Upper abdominal pain that radiates to your back
b)Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating
c)Nausea & Vomiting
d)Tenderness when touching the abdomen
e)Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating
f)Losing weight without trying and oily, smelly stools

So do a physical examination by your treating Doctor and do few investigations like [pancreatic enzymes] and MRI scan to confirm it.If confirmed treatment depends upon exact underlaying pathological conditions only.

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to stop drinking alcohol and stop smoking.

2)Choose a low-fat diet. Choose a diet that limits fat and emphasizes fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein.

3)Drink more fluids. Pancreatitis can cause dehydration, so drink more fluids throughout the day. It may help to keep a water bottle or glass of water with you.

Hope that helps
