i m detected with mycobacterial dna pcr with species mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, what it is actually, and what can be the consequences?
i am given medication RHE FD Tablets, zoncovit, liv-52. doc suggested to undergo a surgery after 3 months....

Hello. Thank you for your question.

From your results , I understand that you have been diagnosed with Tuberculosis.Let me try and explain it.
Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection.It is called Pulmonary Tuberculosis when it affects the lungs, although it can affect other parts of the body such as gastrointestinal tract, central nervous system etc.

The treatment is a combination of drugs known as antituberculous drugs.
The duration of treatment is usually 6 months although it can be longer for different parts of the body affected.Hence it would be useful if you mention the site of infection.

Your physician will do some blood tests before you begin treatment, such as your liver function tests.This is done in order to detect any drug side effects during the course of your therapy.

Even though the duration of treatment is long and there are potential side effects for the drugs used, in majority of cases , the Anti TB regimen has been found to be highly effective in clearing the infection.
