What Are The Symptoms Of Follicular Lymphoma?

What are the symptoms of follicular lymphoma and how fast do the cancer cells grow? I ve had a biopsy and got the results today. I first noticed a little lump over a year ago and the doctor wasn t concerned about it. In more than a year the lump grew to an approximate size of a quarter. If it has taken that long to go from the size of a pea to a quarter is that considered fast or slow growing and how concerned should I be? I will be having some imaging tests shortly.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sorry to hear about your disease. The growth is considered slow if it takes an months to years, though the definition is not absolute. A slowly growing, painless mass in the neck is the common presentation of follicular lymphoma.

The prognosis depends on stage and varies fro m person to person, however its a slow growing tumor, and most people have a long life .many times even it does not need treatment. Though cure may not be possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
