What Are The Symptoms Of Bipolar Disorder?

I think my wife has bipolar disorder, or something similar. But there is no way to raise the question. She once said Im the onlyvsane person in this family . She does not take any criticism well . She does not even realize her mood changes. Her bipolar is not thevextreme patty duke variety or like our daughter who has been hospitalized 5 times already. It is always semi readable even though it is stupid, or totally uneccesary. How can I do something. How do you diagnose BPD. when the patient is unaware or refuses to consider the possibility?

Hi

I understood your concern about the condition of your wife.
Bipolar disorder is a disorder that have alternating episodes of extreme euphoria and major depression
Its a great threat to relationships, career, performance etc

SYMPTOMS of bipolar disorder

DURING MANIC EPISODES

Exhilaration, or euphoria.
Over-self-confidence, an inflated sense of self-esteem.
The patient talks a lot, and very rapidly.
Thoughts come and go quickly (racing thoughts).
The patient's judgment may be impaired.
etc.

DURING DEPRESSIVE EPISODES

Gloomy, despair, and hopelessness.
Guilt (a feeling that everything that goes wrong or appears to be wrong is their fault)
Extreme sadness.
In severe cases, the patient will think about suiciding, and may act on those thoughts.
Insomnia and sleeping problems.
Anxiety
Tiredness, fatigue
Inability to feel pleasures.
Low attention span.
Easily irritated.

Although these are some of the symptoms, Please consult a Psychiatrist to get the right diagnosis and treatment.

Be patient and encourage your wife to talk, and listen carefully.Make her involved in fun activities. Understand about the mood swings.Remind her that with the good treatment, it is possible to get better.

hope this help

I am here to hear you

Thank you
