Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the past year I find when I’m going out to dinner, movie pretty much anywhere I start to feel nauseous and feel like I have to pee. sometimes it gets so bad that I get full body sweats and feel as if I’m going to faint. is this a psychological thing or anxiety? or should i be worried?
Symptoms like nauseating feeling, body sweats, feelings that you are going to faint could occur due to anxiety but detailed evaluation is needed to make diagnosis. Low vitamin B12 levels, abnormal thyroid hormones etc can produce such symptoms mimicking anxiety. Get your B12 and thyroid levels checked to rule out these condition. Consult a psychiatrist for treatment and evaluation.
Most of anxiety disorders respond to behaviour therapy and relaxation exercises. As anxiety is not persistent and occur occasionally so medicines like low dose benzodiazepines or propranolol can help. These medicines decrease the symptoms of anxiety and help in improvement. Consult a psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
