What Are The Symptoms Of A Stroke?

I was having lunch with my 87 year old father and his eyes suddenly glazed over and he started to fall to the left. My son grabbed his right arm to keep him up and I went to the right and held him up and rubbed his back. He was out of it for at least 3 to 4 minutes. When the got home my mother said he had another episode of blacking out and started tearing a pillow then went back to sleep. Seizure, stroke, or should I worry about something else?

Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

It seems that your father had an episode of Transient ischaemic attack or ministroke.

I advice you to get his CT scan head, blood pressure measurement, blood glucose,ECG and blood lipids done. This will rule out any brain pathology, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, hypertension if not already diagnosed since they are risk factors foer stroke.
Has he been on any medications?
Has he been into chronic habit os smoking or alcohol intake?

TIA can lead to a full blown stroke.
Low dose aspirin needs to be started on maientance dose for prevention of stroke.
Other medical condition needs to be brought under control.
You need to meet neurologist/internal medicine specialist for all these things.
Lifestyle changes like healthy diet, avoiding smoking or alcohol need to be resorted to.

Hope I answered your query.
Wish him good health.
