Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suddenly woke up from sleep after sleeping for about 2 hours. I thought I was having a nightmare, I could hardly move my body and my arms. I thought I was wide awake noticing the lights in the room including the computer light and clock. Is this a type of seizure? I plan to see my doctor latter this morning. I am confused and unable to go back to sleep. What should I do?
Hello there . i have read through your question and understand your concern. I think what you experienced is an episode of night terror which is an extremely normal condition and happens to many people. It may be due to stress and the only thing you need to do is to relax before you go to sleep. you can try a few meditation exercises before you go to sleep which will help to calm your mind. If you are unable to sleep even after that you should consult your physician and ask him to prescribe you a sleeping pill for a few days. If this episode keeps on repeating then you can get an EEG done to rule out any other causes. I hope that answers your question. If you have any other questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcaremagic.
