What Are The Symptoms Of A Hernia?

What are the symptoms of a hernia? I think I may be pregnant, but I have gotten 3 negative tests. I have pregnancy symptoms and I m wondering if I have a hernia. I have a bubbly spot to the right of my belly button. Hasn t caused me any trouble, but lately I have had mild pain. I have noticed this spot since after having my daughter 4 years ago but I thought it was something else.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Inguinal Hernia mostly manifests as a swelling in the groin, which seems to descend down on standing up and reduces on lying down. It is also associated with a vague dragging kind of a pain. It increases in size on coughing and normally even if its protruding, the patient will be able to push it back himself/ herself provided there is no obstruction. You can better get evaluated by a general surgeon.
Hope that answers your query.
Regards
