What Are The Symptoms Of DNS And How To Treat It?

Dear Sir. Today I have visited ENT doctor. Actually i am having problem with my ear. The problem is that i am felling drowsiness, headache and problem with listening properly. The doctor examined and diagnosed as Gross DNS and suggest for operation. Shall I go for operation or is there any medicines to cure this problem? What are the symptoms associated with this disorder? Please suggest me.

Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

DNS is deviated nasal septum.It may lead to Eustachian tube blockage.It is a tube which connects the middle ear with the nose and is responsible for equalization of middle ear pressure with the outer atmospheric pressure.In case of blockage of the tube,it will result in negative middle ear pressure leading to ear blockage and sensation if dizziness.Also DNS may lead to blockage of sinus opening leading to headache.

You may get temporary relief by taking medicines like Oral decongestant containing Phenylephrine and Nasal decongestant drops like Xylometazoline,Antiinflammatory like Ibuprofen,Antivertigo medicine like Betahistine.

If the DNS is gross as diagnosed by your doctor,then Surgery is the only option.
