What Are The Symptoms For Celiac Disease And Gluten Intolerance?

Hello Dr. Grief, I have a history of eczema since childhood, but as an adult only have itching below skin surface water blisters on fingers at different times. For the past 5 or 6 months, however, the first two knuckles on both of my hands have become very itchy, somewhat swollen, and so dry that they split, crack and almost bleed. None of my eczema medications have any effect. My cousins have celiac disease and gluten intolerance and today mentioned that I could be showing symptoms of that. What do you think?

Hi,

If this is the chronic skin condition then it must be due to auto-immune disorder that could be related with gene mutation it could be some kind of syndrome and clinical diagnosis may needed to confirm this, such chronic skin disorders or the lesion prone to infection that gives the symptoms of blisters and oozing so I would suggest to try local and oral antibiotic and best drug would be Erythromycin and ointment for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain Shaikh
