What Are The Symptoms And Treatment For Low Blood Pressure?

I recently attempted to donate blood at a Red Cross blood drive but was advised not to donate when my blood pressure registered at 80/50. My readings are normally around 108/70 or within two to three degrees within this range. What causes low blood pressure and are there any symptons?

hi

low blood pressure can cause generalised weakness , myalgia, nausea, giddiness, black outs, cool feet and hands due to inadequate blood supply.

many cardiac problems also lead to sudden hypotension, vasovagal, syncopal attacks, if present since longer duration should be evaluated.

postural variation & severe infections can also lead to hypotension.

good intake of fluids and nutrition will correct the hypotension many a times.

for the sake of blood donation you require mean arterial pressure between 70--110 mm of Hg.

all the best, take care.
