Hello there, I am Dr Asanghanwa Carlson, Thank you for your question. HIV is the virus responsible for the condition known as AIDS. It is acquired through unprotected sexual intercourse with infected people, sharing of sharp objects such as needles, blades and syringes, a pregnant infected mother to her baby. Unprotected sexual intercourse is however the most frequent means of infection. Early HIV infection has no symptoms most of the time in 75% of cases. In a few people however there might be symptoms such as a generalised rash, fever, muscle and joint pains, generalised lymphadenopathies.and many others. The diagnosis HIV is done through rapid tests like the one you do and other confirmatory gold standard tests as there could be an ambiguity in the results. But most of the time the results of the rapid tests are confirmed by the confirmatory tests. The rapid test are available over the counter but the confirmatory tests are done in hospital and laboratory settings. I would therefore advice you to go to the nearest hospital and have a confirmatory tests and with respect to the results, you will be well managed by the consulting physician. Have a great time.
Keywords: rapid test, confirmatory test, assymptomatic
