I would like to know about type 1 diabeties and ketones. Im watching a friend who doesnt take good care of himself and 3 times this yr have called 911 for him due to extremely low levels. For the last 4 days he has bèen sick. His blood levels since the 18th have gone from 285 to the reading i got tonight of 549. My concern is ketones which i just started reading on tonight. He has been throwing up for 3 days has stomach pain will not eat has not urinated for over 12 hours. Cant maintain body temp. Goes rrom hot flash to very cold. He is telling me he doesnt need to go to hospital. But i dont have a way to check for ketones and im very worried after the stuff i just read. Ive know him for over 12 years have npt knpw the levels to be this high for him. Last time i called 911 his level was 12. He is usual low. Please advise me on ketones and should i go with my insticts that say i need to call 911
