General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi!
I can understand your concern.
Suboxone is used to treat opiate (like Methadone) withdrawal.
It is also indicated for the maintenance treatment of opioid dependence and should be used as part of a complete treatment plan to include counseling and psychosocial support.
It contains Buprenorphine (an opioid) & Naloxone (opioid antagonist) which reverses the effects of other opioid medicines & thus to guard against their misuse.
However Subutex (Buprenorphine alone) is given during the first few days of treatment, while Suboxone is used during the maintenance phase of treatment.

The most common reported side effect of Subutex and Suboxone include:
Cold or flu-like symptoms, headache, sweating, vomiting, constipation, confusion, & it can also cause respiratory depression (difficulty breathing) especially when combined with other depressants.

Hope this answers your query.

A feedback is appreciated.
