What Are The Side Effects Of Using Painkillers?

I had a knee replacement 8 days ago and am taking lots of pain pills. Since that time, my urine has a very strong smell and I now have a sudden need to urinate. Since I am not drinking as much water as I normally do, the amount is a lot loser than it used to be. I also am having problems pooping as well. Is this normal?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
HI
Thanks for posting your query .

Strong smell of urine is due to the pain killers you are using . But frequent urination may not be due to pain medicines . I advise you to get tested for Diabetes and a Urine routine examination .

Problems in passing motion is because of your reduced water intake and reduced ambulation . I advise you to drink plenty of water and eat more fruits and vegetables .

Excess intake of pain killers can cause Gastritis , Kidney damage also . Get Serum Creatinine test to see whether Kidney damage has happened or not .

Let me know what pain medicines you are taking , I will advise you a better alternative .
