Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. The involuntary shaking of neck can occur due to some involuntary muscle contractions due to tics or may be due to some seizure disorder. You have been advised to Valprid or Divalproex which resulted in improvement. Divalproex is one of commonly used anti-seizure drug. The drug is also used in migraine, as mood stabiliser in mood disorder etc. It is a safe drug but has few side effects like sedation, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, trembling of body etc. Some times in some individuals the drug may cause liver toxicity. So individuals who have been advised this drug should underwent liver function tests before starting the therapy. But even if it is taken for long time the drug is safe. Consult your doctor again before restarting the drug.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care.
