What Are The Side Effects Of Taking Antibiotics For Upper Respiratory Issue?

I have taken antibiotics 3 consecutive times for upper respiratory problems. I now have a raging, burning, vaginal issue as I have never had before. I have been advised to take Metronidazol. I am 61 and have had a complete hysterectomy, and have recently remarried. Could this be related to my husband.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if you have got symptoms of burning asensation in vagina after taking antibiotics it can be most probably due to fungal infection in the Vagina also known as Vaginal Thrush and it is probably a common cause for vaginal irritation post antibiotic intake..
I would suggest you to consult your treating physician or a Gynaecologist and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and vaginal swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case if thrush is diagnosed as the cause you can be advised to apply vaginal antifungal ointment like Clotrimazole, antifungal pesseries can also be advised..
You can be advised to take antifungal oral medication like Fluconazole one dose weekly for consecutive 3 weeks [in case if infection is severe].
You should also take plenty of Probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic as it help in relieving thrush faster..
Wear cotton and loose fitting undergarments to let air flow well..
Drink plenty of water and maintain a good hygiene..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
