Progyluton is a synthetic estrogrn/progestin combination used for hormone therapy (HT). By synthetic, I mean that they do not exactly match the hormones made by your ovaries or their receptors. For most women that isn't a problem, but for some the inexact fit causes problems. Your ovaries made estradiol and progesterone. Both are available by prescription. Natural progesterone can cause sleepiness so take it at bedtime. Estradiol and progesterone are also synthesized in pharmaceutical plants. They are derived from botanical plants but in the end they are indistinguishable from what your ovaries made. I do not think one is necessarily better, but some women feel better on the hormone closest to the "real thing," Also, younger women tend to need higher doses to control symptoms than women going through natural menopause in their early 50s. Lab tests don't help much, you have to speak up. You are the test, and if you are having hot flashes and sleep problems, it likely you need more. Good luck, and I'm glad the tumor treatable.
