Hi,

Paxil contains paroxetine that belongs to the group of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs is used in the treatment of depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder etc. But, suddenly stop taking this medication can cause unpleasant side effects that are known as withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms of Paxil are nausea, vomiting, cramps, diarrhoea, GIT upset, loss of appetite, excessive dreaming and insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, irritability, mood swings, restlessness, flu like symptoms, headache, sweating, suicidal ideation, depression, loss of balance, vertigo etc. Usually, abruptly stopping antidepressants like Paxil induced withdrawal symptoms may last for up to 4-6 weeks. For avoiding any type of withdrawal symptoms from this medication, someone should stop taking this medication gradually by tapering doses.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
