What Are The Side Effects Of Long Time Usage Of Levipil Tablets?

Hi Doctor, GM My daughter she is 6yrs and 6months old. When ever is having fever she will have seizures, we took EEG it has some spikes, Doc suggested for the Levipil 100mg, 2.5 in both morning and night 2 times a day. Getting afraid of the side effects. Does Diet can do any wonder....

I can understand your concern. She has developed seizures and her EEG also showed spikes on EEG. Levipill is Levatiracetam and the drug is a good anti epileptic drug. The drug is a safe drug and is free of serious side effects. In some initial studies the drug has been found to be safe to use in children. In my opinion you should continue to give her the drug as per prescribed doses. No need to worry from side effects, the drug is safe. Don't rely of dietary changes to treat the seizures. Medicines can only treat the seizures. If possible try to prevent fever as this is one of main trigger for seizures in children.
