What Are The Side Effects Of High Doxepin Dosage?

Re: high doses of Doxepin My 17-year-old son was given a starting dose of 250 mg. When he wasn t majority depressed, he was ANGRY. And to be honest I was terrified he was going to kill himself. You see, at that time he had been cutting for about 6 months. Is this appropriate?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Persons can use 250mg a day of this medication, so the dose is okay. Though the medication is typically used for depression, some mood medications have other uses.

If you do not notice a positive change in behavior after 2 to 3 weeks, which is the typical time that most psychiatric medications take to work, then you should speak to his doctor about a possible change.

I hope this helps
