What Are The Side Effects Of Zifol Tablet?

Hi. I have been prescribed ZIFOL by my dentist because early signs of gingivitis were detected in me. I have been taking it for 4 days, asked to be taken for two weeks. I have had constipation which isn t that severe to be on any laxative. But my stools have changed in colour to a very dark one, almost black. Is it something I shoukd worry about alot? Or will my body adjust to it towards the rest of the treatment? Thank you!

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Zifol contains Iron, Zinc and Folic acid. The constipation and black coloured stools are due to the iron present in the medicine. There is nothing to worry about. They are likely to be present to varying degree as long as you take them and will disappear after a few days of stopping the medicine.
If you have further queries, I am available to answer them.
Dr. Noble Zachariah, Kuwait.
