What Are The Side Effects Of Rituximab?

I am on iv steroids for neuromyletis Optica for three consecutive days, what can be the side effects for that short term dose? I had two infusions of rimuxitab about a month ago but had a new symptom of memory loss and my neurologist is having me to do the extra doses. How long will the effects of the steroids last?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Side-effects of Rituximab are headache, fever, chills, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, flushing, night sweats, weakness, muscle or joint pain, back pain, or dizziness.

Depression may cause temporary memory loss. Multiple sclerosis may also be associated with few cognitive impairments. Need to recheck for hippocampus or thalamus involvement. Rituximab is less likely to cause memory loss.

Please consult your neurophysician who will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
