Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCm.
I understand your concern.
Oxybutynin belongs to a class of drugs known as antispasmodics and it reduces muscle spasms of the bladder and
urinary tract. Hence, it is used to treat symptoms of
overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, incontinence (urine leakage) and increased night-time urination.
Certain side effects which are frequently encountered with its use include: Dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness,
blurred vision, dry eyes, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, headache, unusual taste in mouth, dry/flushed skin and weakness.
To relieve dry mouth, you can suck on hard candy or ice chips, chew gum, drink water or use a saliva substitute.
To relieve dry eyes, use
artificial tears or other eye lubricants.
To prevent constipation, maintain a diet adequate in fibre, drink plenty of water and use
stool softener medication, if necessary.
If any of these effects persist or worsen, you need to seek medical attention promptly.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
