What Are The Side Effects Of Orapred On Menstrual Cycle?

I had to take a few doses of orapred because of an allergic reaction a few days ago. I read that it can cause changes to the menstural cycle. As of now, my period is two days late which isnt normal for me. I was wondering what the common affects of orapred on the menstrual cycle is because im wondering if i should expect to skip my period completely. If i do skip it, will it affect my body long term or will it have no affect at all?

Hi,
Welcome to Health Care Magic, and thanks for posting your query .
I understand your concern.
Taking Orapred could cause menstrual irregularities in some as it is a known side effect of the drug, It all depends on how much dosage of the drug you took and for how many days.
Well , if you have always been having regular cycles (28/ 30 day cycles) then this time because it is 2 days late it could be due to the prednisone drug you took.
In this case i suggest you to wait for another 4-5 days for your periods to occur ,if it doesnt then its good to consult a gynaecologist for some kind of medical intervention. Only rare cases, Oraped can cause complete missing of menstrual cycles but its too rare a side effect to expect considering that you took a few doses.
If you even skip this menstrual cycle it wont have any long term effects on your body, but since prednisone is a steroid drug i suugest you to not use it frequently as it as many other side effects on long term use.
Hope this answers your query satisfactorily and do write back to me if you need further assistance .

Wish you good health.
Take care,
regards.
