Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It's not safe to take Metoprolol while suffering from COPD.

Metoprolol is a 'heart selective' beta-blocker commonly prescribed to treat angina (chest pain) and hypertension, angina pectoris, abnormal heart rhythm and other conditions.

Its most common side effects include decreased heart beats, cold and clammy skin, fatigue, and erectile dysfunction.

Since it can also cause breathlessness in patients suffering from asthma or COPD and it can exaggerate the disease, therefore it is contraindicated in these patients.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
