What Are The Side Effects Of Mercilon?

Hi, I have been on Mercilon for 3 consecutive months now, I woke up this morning with a very bad pain and realized that I started bleeding 6 days to early. I also had a sharp pain in my left ovary yesterday but did not think much of it. This morning it felt like I was sleeping weird and maybe just hurt my back just to realize I have started and am in great pain. Should I call my doctor or can I take the chance and leave this and see what happens?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
Mercilon tablets are a type of hormonal contraception combined oral contraceptive pill containing two active ingredients - ethinylestradiol and desogestrel.

Side effects commonly experienced include: Nausea and vomiting, Abdominal pain, Headache/migraine, Breast discomfort, Weight changes, fluid retention, Vaginal thrush, Change in menstrual bleeding pattern.

It is better you consult your doctor once and get evaluated so that it will be comfortable for you to decide what should be done next.

Wish you all the best.
