Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 81 year old lady and taking blood pressure tablets since 2013 (several different kinds) and nothing seems to work, having several different side affects. Took lisinopril 20mg this morning and I m feeling dizzy ever since which I do have once in a while. My normal BP for several years was always in the 140 s. Is there anyway that I can not take BP tablets and begin to be myself again like I was a few years again? This is the only medication that I take. Thank you
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Lisinopril is a drug belonging to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor class, which is used primarily in treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. Commonly reported side effects of use of lisinopril include dizziness, headache, hypotension, hyperkalemia (raised potassium levels), increased blood urea nitrogen and increased serum creatinine. You need to review your medication on consultation with Physician and take the one which would suit you to keep your blood pressure under control. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
