Dear Madam
Welcome to HCM!
I appreciate your concern towards the safety profile of
Ibuprofen and Naproxen.
The most common side effects of these drugs are mainly due to acidity related stomach problems like heart burn, upper
abdominal pain, nausea, and on prolonged use may be kidney involvement.
Hot flashes are usually not associated with these drugs.
This is problem is commonly seen in post menopausal women due to hormonal changes.
To prevent hot flashes, avoid these triggers:
Stress, caffeine, spicy foods, tight clothing, cigarette smoke & alcohol (if you take)
Other preventive measures are:
Keep your bedroom cool at night.
Use fans during the day.
Wear light layers of clothes with natural fibers such as cotton.
Practice deep breathing (six to eight breaths per minute) for 15 minutes in the morning, 15 minutes in the evening and at the onset of hot flashes.
Exercise daily in the form of walking.
Cooler pillows to lay your head on at night might be helpful.
If there is no improvement then you may have to visit your doctor for
hormone replacement therapy, or HRT, for a short time.
This treatment prevents not only the hot flashes but also other symptoms of
menopause, including
vaginal dryness and mood disorders.
Other options may include low dose
Fluoxetine or
Clonidine.
Hope my suggestions could be of great help to you.
Kindly rate the answer if you are convinced.
