What Are The Side Effects Of Depo Provera Injection?

My daughter has been on Depo shots for 4 years. she has only had occasional light spotting during this time. Two weeks agon she bled heavy for 3 days and has continued spotting since. The doctor ran blood and urine both came back clean and ordered an ulrasound. The ultrasound was normal but did show follicles on her ovaries, could this be the cause of the bleeding? She also has a history of endometriosis and rupturing ovarian cysts.

Understand your concern
Please note that depot shot contain synthetic progesterone and following are the common side effects depot shot:

gastrointestinal disturbances
nausea, vomiting, changes in or loss of libido,
abdominal discomfort,
headaches, nervousness,
depression and mental changes,
vaginal discharge,
lactation,
dysmenorrhoea,
breakthrough bleeding.

So i think it is a side effects of Depot shots.
But it may be due to endometriosis or ovarian cyst

If not resolves, you should consult the doctor and do the following tests:
Hormonal profile: E2, Progestreone, FSH, LH, Prolactin, HCG, Thyroid hormone profile.
USG abdomen
Endometrium biopsy
Ovarian follicle study
