What Are The Side Effects Of Depakote 2?

I just started taking Depakote 2 weeks ago for migraines. I also have high blood pressure. Last week, i started getting a pain in my chest - feels more like a sore muscles than my heart hurting. And my arms and legs have numbness. Stopped taking the Depakote ER 500 mg yesterday and systems are better but not gone. Also, my headaches have returned. Could this be a side effect of the medicine? Or could this be Angina?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Depakote is a medication to treat migraine type of headaches. In my opinion the Depakote medication is correctly used to treat the headache. Regarding the pain in the chest and electrocardiogram should be done for further evaluation to exclude angina.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
