What Are The Side Effects Of Clonazepam?

I am 83 and have a husband with dementia who is difficult. I have been given clonazepam 0.5 mg for depression because I am exhausted, have a constant head ache and feel horrible - like a non person. I want to know if this is going to work, will it make me fatique, will it make me gain weight, -- what are the side effects. AND will it make me happy again? mm

Hi,

It is not an anti-depressant. It works on anxiety and this may or may not be relevant to you. It is a sedative, it can be habit-forming. Stopping it suddenly can cause seizures/withdrawal but this is the lowest dose and if used less than constantly, withdrawal other than 1) not having it cause sedation/lowered anxiety and maybe, 2) tremor is unlikely. Cannot say in your particular case without actually being there.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
