What Are The Side Effects Of Ceftriaxone?

I am studying side effects of ceftriaxone in a vial administered through a picc line at home. infrequent side effects include increased eosinophils in the blood.. but if experienced these tend to have a less severe expression... doc said the eosinophils in my last blood test after 10 days of taking the antibiotic were very high! is that normal? infection after ORIF surgery on ulna bone in forearm

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The side effects of drug Ceftriaxone are: lump, pain, swelling at site of infection, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache or exaggerated reflexes/vaginal itching/sore swollen tongue/sweating. Even if there are no apparent signs of side effects.. raised eosinophils indicates organ specific allergic reaction. So a detailed health check up specially for liver & kidney are suggested.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
