What Are The Side Effects Of Bactrim?

I am allergic to many antibiotics, including everything related to penicillan and to Cipro. My doctor has prescribed Bactrim, which ive taken beforemwith no problem. But the pharmacy just filled the prescription for Bactrim with SMZ-TMP DS instead. Are any of its active or imactive imgredients likely to cause an allertic reaction? Are they related to,any of the active or inactive ingredients in Cipro or Ampicillan, for example? Thank you.

Hi! So many drugs so many worries! Alas we must be happy we have so many choices, provided one is aware of what each one does.

Coming to your problem, Bactrim belongs to a sulfonamide family which is completely different from the penicillin family. As long as you've taken Bactrim before and have never had an allergic reaction typical of a sulfa drug you are safe to take it. And yes, it has no interaction or relation with penicillin family.
