What Are The Side Effects Of Atorvastatin?

I m 67 years old and feel really healthy compared to most of the folks around me . I m scared to death of the side effects of this drug Atorvastatin . I m taking 4 different drugs for type 2 diabetes . Metformin , Glimmpride , Fenofibrate and Lisinopril . I really don t want to include another drug because of all the side effects . My cholesterol and Triglycerides have always been high but are down from 490 and 4300 to around 200 on both . Do I really need to add another drug to my daily routine . My blood pressure was 115 /66 this morning and my pulse was 73 and I have no signs of diabetes in my feet or eyes and get checked every 6 months . Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' query. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Atorvastatin is used for the treatment of elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. So it is extremely important to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. There are few side effects for this drug (don't occur in all patients and are generally tolerable including headache, fatigue and diarrhea.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
