Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Alprazolam is a benzodiazepinecompound, which affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with anxiety.
Hence, it is used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders and anxiety caused by depression.
Commonly reported side effects of alprazolam include fatigue, sedation, memory impairment, cognitive dysfunction,
drowsiness, tremor, ataxia, depression, headache, menstrual disturbance,
constipation, weight gain,
nervousness, skin rash, difficulty in micturition,
dysarthria, diarrhea,
blurred vision, insomnia, anxiety, irritability, decreased libido and decreased appetite.
Long term use of it might land up in dependency of the drug. Also, some of the side effects are dose related too. And not everyone will experience all the above side effects mentioned.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
