What Are The Risks Of Placing A Tube In Intestine For Blockage?

I have pseudo intestinal blockage , as I get older the attacks have become more frequent an intense. Usually I have to be hospitalized for a few days to a week. treatment usually consisted of placing a tube. Into the stomach and clearing the contents by using a vacuum system. Presently my physicians have recommended placing a tube into the stomach to the outside with a valve that I could open to drain the stomach with the hope it would prevent an attach. I understand that I would have to be very careful to keep the tube clean to prevent infection. I do not know if this procedure has a name or what are the risks other then infection if the tube is not kept clean, thanks for you attention. Sidney Gitlin

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of pseudo intestinal blockage, which is treated till today by placing the tune in the stomach and aspirated with admission in the hospital for a few days to a week.
As you are getting older the problem is increasing and your Doctor has advised you for the permanent sort of the tube to be placed with a valve so that you can operated and release the obstruction at will.
I do not think that this is an established procedure and hence best to try to avoid it.
Again, Pseudo-obstruction is very rare and usually if found well, one may get the proper solution.
Hence I would like you the following:
Barium meal and follow-through X-rays will definitely show the probable diagnosis.
CT scan of the abdomen may help.
Diagnostic Laparoscopy and procedure can help you permanently.
