What Are The Purple Splotches On My Back?
today when I was changing my boyfriend noticed that my back was bruised severely with big purple splotches all over and have had no known injury.I have an old more back injury to the spine with 2 herniated disc but I treat with narcotic medication wondering what the bruising could be from?

I can understand your concern for the big purple splotches on the back.
You have not mentioned your age and related medical history (if any)so that a difference between a normal causes and some internal cause could be sorted out.
These purple splotches are known as pupura or ecchymotic spots and are formed due to leakage of blood under the skin.
These can be due to normal physiological causes or due to some internal causes.
You keep a watch over these spots. If these subsided by its own then there si no issues regarding it and if these are increasing in number and size then you can go for simple tesitng of bleeding time, clotting time and platelet number.
If these are abnormal then can meet a primary care physician for further guidance.
