What Are The Precautions That Need To Taken Before And After Having Rhinoplasty?

Hi, I am planning on getting rhinoplasty done (no date decided yet) but I need to know how long before the surgery I should stop doing drugs (such as mdma, mushrooms, cocaine, ket) I have done some research and found that cocaine is really bad for the nose even before the surgery, I have only done it a few times so I don t think I have done much damage to it and will not be sniffing and more drugs prior to the surgery.are the risks involved with rhinoplasty only to do with drugs entering your nose? I was just wondering if you can tell me what drugs are dangerous in regards to rhinoplasty and what is ok and how long after I would be able to take drugs, and if I will ever be able to sniff anything again? I am not a hard user, I only do it about once a month if not once every few months and I just want to know health risks only in regards to rhinoplasty. I am a psychology student and have studied a bit of pharmacology so I don t need to know how dangerous they may be in general but rather just need to understand anything regarding recreational drugs pre op and post op as I am worried there may be problems, difficulties with surgery, and how long after until my nose is 100% safe.Thank you so much for all your help I really appreciate it

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Rhinoplasty is a surgery for the nose. This requires you to stop all drugs for a week before the planned surgery. If you continue the drugs then there is a risk of high blood pressure and uncontrolled bleeding and both should not happen during the surgery.

After the surgery the recovery is quick and even in the recovery periods it is best to avoid drugs for about two weeks. This is to allow the surgical wound to heal naturally and avoid complications and irritation of the nose.

In conclusion, please stop substance abuse a week before the surgery and 2 weeks following it. Please do not worry.
