What Are The Possible Side Effects Of Toprol?
I have just been prescribed toprol and I have some concerns. I am worried that if the side effects are too strong I won t be able to go off the medicine quickly without great risk. I Aldo occasionally drink alcohol and don t want to give that up to be on medicine. Lastly I am concerned about sexual side effects. I only have slightly elevated blood pressure. Are all these issues really worth the benefit?

Dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, low blood pressure, depressed mood, breathing difficulty especially in patients with asthma or COPD, erectile dysfunction are some of the side effects of Toprol (Metoprolol). Taking alcohol along with Metoprolol, especially during first few weeks of treatment can reduce blood pressure levels dangerously low.This effect is less pronounced once your body acclimatize to the medication.
However, you should not discontinue Toprol. It is important to treat high blood pressure. Elevated blood pressure levels have serious health risk like cardiac problems, stroke etc.
Please be advised to continue Toprol as prescribed.If you develop any side effects, consult your treating physician.
