Hi, I missed my periods since 15 days. Doctor advised me to take Meprate 10 mg for 5 days. My Pregnancy test has been done its negative. I never missed my periods like this. Its the first time happened with me. Is it safe to take this tablet ? Any side effects of this tablet ? Please advise
Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone) is female hormone Progesterone is given to induce withdrawal bleeding since you have a missed period (amenorrhea) with a negative pregnancy test. Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs anytime from 3-7 days after the last dose of Meprate.
So in my opinion, your doctor gave you the right treatment because Meprate is safe and helpful in regulating your cycle.
Its most common side effects include nausea, bloating, breast tenderness, headache, change in vaginal discharge, mood swings, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, or weight gain/loss. If any of these effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor promptly.
Hope this answers your query.
