What Are The Normal Levels Of Sugar During Pregnancy?

Hello,
I am 9 weeks pregnant. I am diabetic and have my sugar level in the range of 150 to 170 after lunch and fasting comes around 120 to 130. I am taking insulin injection. I have researched in net and came to know that its very harmful for the baby. I am little worried. Till now the ultrasound is fine....everything is normal. Please guide me what is the normal level. As my sugar level were already high during conceiving will it be an issue for my baby. if there are any deffects how will i come to know about it.

Hello
You need to be on strict diet control as elevated glucose levels in pregnancy can be of great harm to developing foetus.
Your fasting levels should be below 110 and random should be below 140mg/dl.
High glucose levels in mother can give rise to a wide range of pblms like cleft lip and pallate etc.
A level 2 scan at the completion of 20 weeks is advisable to check out foetal anomalies.
