Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir, I am 26 and a software engineer (sitting 8 hours on PC). From last 2 weeks I had pain in lower legs and so I went for MRI and had the following findingsPosterior disc bulging L4 L5 level causing indentation on thecal sac and descending nerve roots - Mild facetal arthopathy seen at lower lumbar region\It s been 10 days with PT exercise after a 7 days full bed rest after finding and I feel improvement in back pain from last 2 days. So, can anyone tell me how much time will it take to recover completely ? I am eager to back to my old days where I play Table Tennis, cricket and do all other stuff without tiring for a second!
Firstly, pain in the lower legs does not necessarily indicate a nerve or disc problem.Your MRI findings are not significant. Your main problem is a general back and lower limb strain related to your lifestyle ie prolonged sitting for 8 hours a day. This has now recovered from rest and exercises and in a months time you should be back on the field doing sporting activities. However unless you change your work pattern this will come back again.
Sitting for more than 1 and a half hour is not good good for the back.So change your work arrangement where you get up and stretch out for 10 mins after say one and a half to two hours of work. See if you can do the same job standing. Adjust the office ergonomics for better posture, monitor level and chair with back support.Strengthen the back and abs with exercises. Your physical therapist can help you in this.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
