What Are The Effects Of Taking Rantac For Long Term?

I am 38 years old female.I was using Rantac tablets for acidity problems.Now the pain is feeling at chest also. I am using the same tablet for this too , as I am getting relief for this pain. Is this medicine enough for this pain?.. As the pain comes again and again.. Is this tablet just a pain killer? Any side effect if I use this tablet always?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Acidity is not a simple issue, to continue with RANTAC.

Initially you will get relief by this, it is better to get relief by simple life style changes like,-
- timely food ,small and frequent foods. Get something for every 3 hrs.
-avoid stress, this is the main cause for ulcers.
-avoid spicy food.
-avoid coffee ,tea .

Side effects due to any antacids are-
-Foremost is dependence
-calcium deficiency due to rantac effecting the absorption of calcium.

You should get an endoscope to know the severity of ulcers.

Chronic ulcers may leads to complications like rupture and serious conditions like cancers(very rare)

OTHER DRUGS WHICH ARE USEFULL

SUCRAL-O SYRUP

TAKE ONE ANTBIOTIC along with antacid , H.PYLORI bacteria will be a causative factor.

CONSULT a gastroenterologist for more diagnostic tests.
